New Book Excerpt
BETTER THAN YOU EXPECTED
As I begin writing this book, I have to tell you how scared I am.
That’s right.
Scared.
I’m literally short of breath right now.
With so many things I’ve accomplished in the past, you might wonder why.
Hell. I’ve been wondering why myself for years.
Let me explain. Maybe you’ve felt the same way and can relate.
I start to wonder more and more as I’m getting older “How many shots at greatness do I have left?”
Can I really do it?
If I can, then why haven’t I yet?
I’ve come to realize through my personal journey in life and from helping out many older men through theirs, this is common.
This way of thinking can haunt us.
It can cripple us.
It can prevent us from taking the action we know we must.
It’s not because we’re lazy and aren’t willing to do the work.
It’s not because we don’t have enough confidence. Sure, your confidence can waver at times. That’s normal. That’s to be expected. We know we can do it.
At least, on a rational level we know we can.
I’ve learned to understand that we as human beings aren’t nearly as rational as we think we are.
There’s always more we can and must learn to create the lives we want. We know that. But doing what it takes to get that knowledge isn’t what stops us either.
Putting all my effort into what I really want is what I’m afraid of. Really going for whatever goals, achievements, feelings and emotions I want to experience before I take my last breath on this planet and coming up short makes me feel sick to my stomach.
I’m feeling that way right now.
Our rational minds know we’ve accomplished admirable things in the past. We know there’s no reason why we can’t now too no matter how old we are. We need to set our mind to it.
Our rational minds know that failing is just a part of life and we must take those risks to get what we really want.
Since I’ve gotten older, my thinking has changed.
I can no longer optimistically believe things are just going to happen for me.
They won’t.
I can’t just work hard. I must work smart. I must be effective to produce results. It doesn’t matter if I’m a good person. It doesn’t matter how honorable my intentions are either.
I’ve got more time behind me than in front me.
It’s a bit sobering but true.
I must do it now.
I must allocate my willpower, focus, energy and time properly. At times, I believe I must allocate these limited resources perfectly.
And I know I won’t be perfect.
What if it doesn’t work out?
What I never achieve “greatness” whatever greatness means to me?
I’m afraid that a day might come when I’ll have to look in the mirror and tell myself I just wasn’t good enough. Of course when I was younger, that possibility existed but it was always a long time from now.
That day might not be so far away now.
If I never start or finish, I’ll never be forced to experience that horrible moment in the mirror, right?
That’s not rational.
I don’t know why you started reading this book. The chances are that you need to get more healthy and fit.
Maybe you have more time at this stage of your life and you’ve always wanted to have a better body. Maybe you have health concerns that you’re finally ready to address. Maybe you’re being proactive and not waiting until you do have health issues. Maybe you’ve worked hard your entire life putting your family and business ahead of your health and fitness and realize you won’t be functional or even live long enough to enjoy everything you worked for if you don’t get healthy and fit.
You’re getting older and you’re finally ready to make your health and fitness a higher priority.
I will help you do that whatever your reasons are.
Along the way, I will help you do a lot more than that.
I’ll get you to understand why getting healthy and fit will help you earn what you want in life.
I’ll get you to understand why you want it.
I’ll get you to understand exactly what you need to do to get healthy and fit at this age. More importantly, I’ll get you yo understand what you don’t need to do so you can save some of your willpower, focus, energy and time getting healthy and fit.
Along the way, I’ll get you to understand what you need to do to finally achieve greatness in your life now that you’re older.
No matter what “greatness” means to you.
It’s better than you expected.
If you can't lose the last 10 pounds or so of body fat no matter how hard you work out, it's because of the way you're eating.
Even if you think you're eating well enough and in a calorie deficit, this short video explains why that's not enough to get the job done.

If you’re like most of the men who listen to this podcast, you have accomplished a few things in your life. But, despite those accomplishments and all of the praise you continually get, you’re still not satisfied. You have a lot of talent. You’re willing to do the hard work. You just know that you have a lot more to achieve in your life. You have a lot of “unfinished business”!
In this podcast, I talk about how you’re not alone if you think about all of the things you still haven’t accomplished or experienced in your life yet.
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝟱 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆

When you look in the mirror, you’ll know what it takes to get from where you are now (Point A) to get to where you want to be (Point B) with more certainty and confidence. It doesn’t matter where you are right now or what your goals are, you’ll know what to do.
Then, it will just be a matter of you doing what you know for a long enough period of time. That’s a great place to be. You’ll have a better sense of control during the entire process. The most important training, eating, lifestyle, and mindset strategies are all covered.
You’ll know exactly what to do ...
Most older men can’t.
No matter what they say, they can’t.
And, because they can’t, the information you need to hear never gets told.
It goes against the grain.
It gets too much resistance from untrained minds.
So, why bother?
These are just a few of the things that elite, experienced men who workout and look great (and have for a long time) want to tell you, but they know you just won’t understand.
They know that you are getting the majority of your instruction from undertrained minds. You’re getting your information from people who worry too much about what other people think. They worry about what the “internet trolls” and inexperienced, less knowledgeable fitness experts will say about them.
If you want to get to the next level . . . I mean you REALLY want to get to the next level . . . you need to know what I’ve posted down below.
1. If you are counting your macros, you’re counting your calories too. You’re just stopping one step short in the arithmetic. If you don’t like the ...
Today after a warm-up I decided to eliminate pyramiding up in weight and just go for my heaviest weight for 8-10 in squats. That was 225/8, 225/6, and 225/7. Then I applied that same method with incline DB 70/11, 70/10, followed by close grip Lat Pulldowns 125/10, 130/10, 140/7. With a bit more rest between sets I hit my 1st rule. My rule is 60 minutes
