Workouts For Older Men
Need a little relief these days? If so, you're certainly not alone. Didn't we think we'd be "coasting" by this stage of our lives back when we were younger?
That's not even close to being true, is it? Life is always filled with inevitable challenges. It's always been that way. There's no reason to think it's going to be any different moving forward.
Too much stress will literally kill us. We must learn how to effectively deal with the stress in our lives. There's no other way around it. As the saying goes, "Life doesn't get any easier. You just get stronger."
Here are some stress relief strategies that will make you stronger. These are some things to think about as we're living in an unpredictable world that seems to be constantly changing.
๐ญ. ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. You must be able to envision things getting better for you. Can you see things eventually getting better? You must. If you can't see things getting better for you right now, get some help. You must create a better future in your mind first. You're not going be resourceful enough to find ways to alleviate the stress in your life and gain the sense of control you need until you can visualize it first. To some, this may seem like crazy, woo-hoo talk. It's not. It's reality. Your reality.
๐ฎ. ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ๐. You must believe that you have the power and skills to get to that better place. Get yourself to believe! You must believe โthe game is winnable." Believing in yourself makes you resourceful. Believing in yourself creates grit.
๐ฏ. ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป. You must have some concrete plan for getting to that better, less stressful place. You can't just hope the stress goes away and life becomes easier. It won't. You must create a plan. You must believe in your plan. You must execute your plan on a consistent basis. Even if things don't improve right away, you feel less stress because you have a better sense of control in your life. That's mindset. The more you have a sense of control, the less stress you'll experience.
๐ฐ. ๐ง๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐, ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐. You must keep a "scorecard" in good times, challenging times, and everything in between. Just knowing you are sticking to a plan will give you a sense of control. You can change your situation. You are proving it to yourself every time you check off one of your actionable items.
๐๐ข๐ก๐จ๐ฆ ๐ง๐๐ฃ: Get your workout in! There are countless medical studies that prove the stress relieving power of a good workout. You don't need to be a fitness expert to enjoy the benefits. A brisk walk every day can help you overcome the stress you're feeling. Some is always better than none when it comes to fitness and the stress relief it provides. Get it every single day when you are going through stressful times. Do it for the mental and emotional relief more than for building muscle or losing body fat. Those can serve as added bonuses. Stick to your diet too. Create a checklist. Make the game winnable and keep score. Your fitness can give you your "fix" of feeling a sense of control every time you complete a workout.

When you look in the mirror, youโll know what it takes to get from where you are now (Point A) to get to where you want to be (Point B) with more certainty and confidence. It doesnโt matter where you are right now or what your goals are, youโll know what to do.
Then, it will just be a matter of you doing what you know for a long enough period of time. Thatโs a great place to be. Youโll have a better sense of control during the entire process. The most important training, eating, lifestyle, and mindset strategies are all covered.

Most older men canโt.
No matter what they say, they canโt.
And, because they canโt, the information you need to hear never gets told.
It goes against the grain.
It gets too much resistance from untrained minds.
So, why bother?
These are just a few of the things that elite, experienced men who workout and look great (and have for a long time) want to tell you, but they know you just wonโt understand.
They know that you are getting the majority of your instruction from undertrained minds. Youโre getting your information from people who worry too much about what other people think. They worry about what the โinternet trollsโ and inexperienced, less knowledgeable fitness experts will say about them.

Today after a warm-up I decided to eliminate pyramiding up in weight and just go for my heaviest weight for 8-10 in squats. That was 225/8, 225/6, and 225/7. Then I applied that same method with incline DB 70/11, 70/10, followed by close grip Lat Pulldowns 125/10, 130/10, 140/7. With a bit more rest between sets I hit my 1st rule. My rule is 60 minutes
